String is building the most comprehensive and robust platform for extracting and structuring web data.
Customers ranging from the world’s largest hedge funds to seed-stage AI startups use us to pull 30M+ rows of structured web data per week. We’re hiring to meet increasing demand.
We’ve done all this with a lean, ambitious team, and we recently closed a seed round from leading VCs and angels in the data as a service (DaaS) space to further accelerate growth.
We’re currently looking to hire a talented scraping engineer to help fill the gaps in our agents that build scripts and fix issues with our existing scripts. You would be an embedded part of our team and learn from world class engineers building a high growth AI startup. We run hundreds of web extraction scripts daily scraping millions of pages. Our stack consists of Node.js, Typescript, Puppeteer, RabbitMQ, Redis, and GCP.
Requirements:
1+ years web scraping experience
1+ years experience with Typescript, Node.js, and SQL
8+ hours per day availability and overlap to meet during US hours
Willingness to work in a fast paced startup environment - meaning comfort with ambiguity, bias towards action and a constant focus on efficiency.
Bonus
RabbitMQ (or similar), grpc, Redis, git, bash, BigQuery
Google Cloud Platform experience (or other cloud experience)
Other
Familiar with general analytical/numerical/data science topics like data cleaning
Good communicator - send asynchronous updates and flag blockers ahead of time
Experience working within or leading engineering teams & scoping project timelines
Quick learner & excited about the vision!
Responsibilities:
You will report to the forward deployed engineer (FDE) and will be responsible for:
Ensuring our triage queue is empty with no broken scrapers or data quality alerts.
Helping build new scripts for websites that we need to scrape.
Checking data produced to ensure 100% accuracy.
Building dashboards to visualize scraped data.
