How We Hire at Mixmax
Mixmax is a remote-first company with a globally distributed team. For this role, we hire on a B2B contract basis, which is common for our team members in Europe and LATAM.
The short version: you’ll have the flexibility and autonomy of an independent professional, while still operating like a long-term member of the Mixmax team. Contracts are ongoing and renewed annually.
We’ll cover the details later in the process, but we want candidates to understand the setup early so there are no surprises.
About the Role
At Mixmax, we’re building the future of how revenue teams work: smarter, faster, and more human. Our platform helps go-to-market teams close more deals by automating busywork, streamlining communication, and delivering real-time insights inside the tools they already use.
We're looking for a Staff Product Manager who can operate across product areas and lead the kind of work that shapes how the whole team builds. This isn't a role where someone hands you a problem to solve - you'll be the one identifying which problems matter most, setting strategic direction that other PMs and teams align to, and driving complex, cross-cutting initiatives from ambiguity through to measurable impact.
You'll also be expected to raise the bar for product thinking across the team - through mentorship, sharper decision-making, and operating rigor. The right person has done this before: they've owned a strategic arc over 1-2 years, influenced beyond their direct team, and helped less experienced PMs get better.
We’re also an AI-native company, and we expect our PMs to be AI-capable. You don’t need to be an expert walking in - we’re happy to help people level up - but you should be comfortable using AI in your day-to-day work, curious about how it changes product development, and willing to build the muscle as the tools keep evolving.
Outcomes
In Your First 3 Months
- Develop a deep understanding of Mixmax, our product capabilities, and how our customers create value with it
- Meet with at least 10 customers and interview internal teams across Sales, Customer Success, and Support to understand current workflows and pain points
- Establish expertise in your product area, including its users, core metrics, current roadmap, and connection to Mixmax’s broader strategy
- Build strong working relationships with your engineering and design partners
- Take clear ownership of your product area’s priorities, tradeoffs, and operating rhythm
- Ensure upcoming sprints are prioritized, planned, and connected to product goals
- Gain visibility into relevant dashboards and metrics, with clear hypotheses for where we can improve
In Your First 6 Months
- Maintain a 1–3 month prioritized product backlog, with clear documentation and rationale
- Deliver multiple product improvements or experiments, with supporting data on performance
- Define and socialize a mid-term (1–2 year) product vision and strategy for your area
- Demonstrate impact through shipped features that improve key product metrics or customer workflows
- Collaborate with other PMs and teams on cross-cutting initiatives (e.g. platform improvements, new features, or AI-related capabilities)
The Opportunity
As a Staff PM at Mixmax, you’ll own meaningful product areas that directly affect how revenue teams work every day. You’ll be expected to bring clarity to ambiguous problems, make smart tradeoffs, and drive work from early discovery through launch and iteration.
This role is a good fit for someone who wants real ownership. You’ll work closely with Design, Engineering, Data, and GTM partners, but you won’t be waiting for someone else to define the path. We’ll expect you to understand the customer, know the business context, and help the team decide what matters most.
You’ll also help shape how Mixmax builds with AI. That doesn’t mean every solution needs to be AI-powered. It means you should be curious, pragmatic, and comfortable exploring where AI can create real customer value - and where it’s just noise.
How this role differs from Senior PM
We're also hiring a Senior PM. If you're deciding between the two, here's the short version: the Senior PM owns a defined product area and drives it forward within a given strategic direction. The Staff PM works across areas, sets strategic direction that other PMs and teams align to, mentors other PMs, and operates on a longer time horizon (1-2 years vs 3-6 months). If you've been operating at a senior level and are ready to lead across teams, influence company-level priorities, and raise the bar for product thinking broadly - this is the right role.
What You'll Be Doing
- Own the strategy, roadmap, and execution for important product areas
- Stay close to customers through regular interviews, feedback review, and product usage analysis
- Turn ambiguous problems into clear product direction, priorities, and tradeoffs
- Partner deeply with Design and Engineering to ship high-quality product experiences
- Use data to understand product performance, diagnose problems, and measure impact
- Work with Sales, Customer Success, Support, and Marketing to connect product decisions to customer and business needs
- Identify practical ways AI can improve customer workflows, internal product development, or the product experience itself
- Communicate clearly across the company so teams understand what we’re doing, why it matters, and what we’re learning
What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years of product management experience in a B2B SaaS environment, with demonstrated experience operating at a senior or staff level
- A strong track record of shipping successful products with measurable impact
- Ability to define and drive strategy across teams and functions
- Experience collaborating closely with designers and engineers through the full product lifecycle
- Comfortable working in areas of ambiguity, setting structure, and making clear trade-offs
- Familiarity with modern AI tooling and concepts, with a strong interest in applying them to real product use cases
- Excellent communication skills – you bring clarity to complex topics and align cross-functional teams
Nice to Have
- Experience working on workflow automation, productivity tools, or communication platforms
- Previous work involving user-facing applications of AI (e.g. recommendations, smart defaults, summarization)
- Strong customer orientation and product discovery habits
Competencies
Strategic & Outcome-Oriented Thinking: You can frame problems at a cross-team or company-strategy level, not just within a single product area. You identify the highest-value bets, reason about second-order effects, and set direction that other PMs and teams can align to. You think in 1-2 year arcs, not just the next quarter.
Ownership & Accountability: You take responsibility for complex, cross-cutting work where ownership isn't always clean. You define the path when nobody else will, make calls in ambiguous situations, and hold yourself accountable for outcomes even when the work spans multiple teams.
Execution & Cross-functional Leadership: You can turn strategy into shipped product. You partner closely with Design, Engineering, Data, and GTM teams to scope, prioritize, unblock, launch, and iterate.
Customer Obsession & Insight Generation: You stay close to customers and understand their workflows deeply. You use interviews, feedback, usage data, and internal signals to spot real problems and turn them into product opportunities.
Taste, Product Craft & Simplification: You care about quality, usability, and focus. You can take messy or complex problems and shape them into product experiences that feel clear, useful, and easy to adopt.
Data-Informed Decision-Making: You use data to understand what’s happening, diagnose problems, and measure impact. You’re comfortable making decisions with imperfect information, but you’re clear about what you know, what you don’t, and what you need to learn next.
Comfort with Ambiguity: You create clarity for the broader team when the strategic direction is uncertain - not just within a single squad. You're the person others look to when nobody knows what to do next, and you can build enough structure to move forward without pretending everything is figured out.
AI-Capable Product Thinking: You’re comfortable using AI in your own work and curious about how AI changes product development. You don’t need to be an expert, but you should be practical, hands-on, and able to spot where AI can create real customer value.
Clear, Confident Communication: You explain complex ideas simply. You can align stakeholders, document decisions, and help teams understand what we’re doing, why it matters, and what comes next.
