We're building the "Plaid of Telematics" - helping brokers, fintechs, and fleets connect to truck and trailer data via a single API.

Role Summary

As a Data Quality Specialist, you'll be at the heart of our mission to standardize and normalize telematics data from hundreds of providers (TSPs). You'll map, validate, and QA the data flowing through our platform, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and usability across our common model.

This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role that blends analytical precision with curiosity and persistence. You'll collaborate with engineers, product specialists, and external partners to make sure our integrations are accurate, reliable, and ready for customers.

Key Responsibilities

Data Mapping: Analyze and map fields from multiple TSPs into Catena's common data model, aligning units, formats, and value semantics.

Normalization & QA: Work with product and engineering teams to design normalization rules and validate that transformed data matches expectations.

Integration QA: Test data ingestion and transformation workflows, identifying inconsistencies, edge cases, and missing data across integrations.

Documentation Support: Collaborate with our Product Specialist to maintain accurate, customer-facing documentation about data fields, integration details, and known behaviors.

TSP Coordination: Interface directly with TSP partners to obtain API documentation, credentials, and sandbox/test environment access.

Customer Support: Assist in investigating customer-reported data issues, providing clarity on data sources, formats, and validation results.

Cross-Team Collaboration: Serve as the connective tissue between product, engineering, and external providers, ensuring the integrity and traceability of all incoming data.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven attention to detail and exceptional follow-through.
  • Experience working with structured data (JSON, CSV, SQL) and basic data validation techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify patterns or inconsistencies in large, complex datasets.
  • Familiarity with APIs or technical documentation; you can read API field definitions and understand what an engineer needs to build a mapping or integration.
  • Comfortable communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple integrations or projects at once and stay organized across them.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 2+ years of experience in data operations, QA, or integration support roles.
  • A meticulous, process-driven mindset - you notice small details others might miss.
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, telematics, or trucking is a major plus.
  • Able to balance heads-down QA work with proactive communication and collaboration.
  • Thrives in an early-stage startup environment where priorities shift and learning never stops.
  • Takes pride in getting detail-heavy work exactly right.

Why Join Us?

Visible Impact: We're ticket-focused, so work is transparent from idea to production. You'll see exactly how your contributions move the company forward.

Early Influence: You'll help shape not just our product and technical architecture, but also our engineering culture and company direction.

High-Scale Engineering: Our platform processes data from millions of trucks every few seconds, offering the rare chance to design and optimize systems operating at real-world scale.

Remote-First Flexibility: We're a fully remote team with optional conference attendance and annual in-person events to strengthen team connection.

Mission with Momentum: We're building the infrastructure layer for the future of logistics (a universal API for supply chain) with strong backing and early customer traction.
