About the Role

We seek a high-performing Employee Relations Manager to join our People team, supporting our hourly teammates and frontline leaders in the New York Pharmacy. In this role, you will focus on resolving complex employee relations matters, managing leave of absence, and coaching managers to strengthen accountability and compliance across their teams.

You will be the subject matter expert for investigations, accommodations, and leave administration, ensuring fair, consistent, and efficient resolution of issues while creating scalable processes to reduce risk and improve the teammate experience. This role will work closely with pharmacy operations leadership to navigate sensitive matters and ensure compliance with company policy and employment laws. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting managers and teammates on all people-related matters, including performance management, employee engagement, employee relations, conflict resolution, and interpretation of employment policies and practices.

  • Resolving employee relations cases, including investigations, policy violations, accommodations, and performance-related escalations.

  • Managing complex leave of absence cases including ADA accommodations, intermittent leaves, and company-provided LOAs.

  • Resolve second-tier issues that have been escalated by the People Operations team that requires sensitivity and judgment, effectively prioritizing multiple cases and escalating to People Team leadership and legal counsel when necessary.

  • Serving as an escalation point for sensitive teammate concerns while partnering with stakeholders to resolve issues, improve policies, and implement scalable solutions that align with company values and enhance the teammate experience.

About You:

  • You thrive in a compliance-heavy ER environment, balancing empathy with sound judgment in resolving teammate issues.

  • You are experienced in conducting investigations, handling sensitive cases from start to finish, and possess expertise in leave administration, especially for non-traditional or part-time workforces.

  • You are process-driven and enjoy building SOPs, tools, and scalable solutions to streamline ER and leave workflows.

  • You are a trusted advisor who guides managers through complex situations while reinforcing accountability and policy adherence.

  • You operate with discretion, fairness, and clarity, even in high-pressure or sensitive situations.

  • You thrive on being pushed and challenged. You communicate effectively in written form and on your feet, and you are not fazed by tough questions in the moment.

  • You have a knack for building strong relationships with your teammates and across functional teams.

Requirements:

  • This role is hybrid with a minimum of 3 days onsite at our Harlem pharmacy in New York City.

  • 5+ years of HR experience, with 3+ years in Employee Relations (investigations, accommodations, and leave management).

  • Expertise in managing complex LOAs, employee relations and conducting investigations

  • Experience supporting hourly employees in high-volume, distributed environments (e.g., logistics, healthcare, retail).

  • Strong working knowledge of ADA and FMLA with proven ability to manage non-standard cases.

  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and ticketing/case management tools.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to handle sensitive conversations professionally.

  • Strong bias for action and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • The starting anticipated earnings for this position are between $95,000 and $115,000. Compensation packages include base pay and benefits.
